Irish prospect Gavin Kilkenny has been given a boost after Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe added him to their first team squad for a pre-season training camp in Spain.

Kilkenny, a product of St Kevin’s Boys, the Dublin nursery club where he spent ten years, has only been at Bournemouth since 2016 but has already worked his way up the ladder.

And Howe asked Kilkenny (19) to join the squad as they flew out to La Manga on Wednesday night for a 12-day training camp. Keeper Mark Travers has also travelled after he recovered from the hand injury which kept him out of the Ireland squad for last month’s Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Harry Arter is also in the Bournemouth squad as he tries to play his way back into contention having spent last season on loan to Cardiff City.
